    Description

    Here is a nice shortwave antenna with built-in lightning protection.  Use portable or permanent mount for excellent results.  How many times have you been away from home when a storm came up and you realize you  didn't disconnect the antenna from that expensive SWL receiver.  Give your rig a measure of protection with this gas-discharge (GDT) tube protected antenna.  You could use an external surge protector with your antenna but that just adds two more connections in the transmission line to fail.  Our GDT is internal to the housing and is soldered directly across the SO239 connector for maximum protection.  Because this is a surge protected antenna with a low-voltage,  high-current discharge tube it is RECEIVE ONLY.  Transmitting QRP with just a few watts is fine though making this a perfect antenna for portable/bugout  operation.  It is approximately 63 feet in tip-to-tip length which tunes it to about 7.5 Mhz and is useable from the AM broadcast band up through 30 Mhz.   Domestic shipping is by US Mail (Priority Mail insured).  International shipping is handled by the Ebay Global Shipping program.
