    Antique Genuine LF & C of New Britain Ct Model NO. 2 Universal Food Chopper Grinder - circa 1900
    This cast iron antique grinder/food chopper is from LF & C. It is the Universal No. 2 Food Chopper - Patent Date 1897 & 1900. The handle is made of wood. The body reads "LF & C New Britain Conn USA - No. 2 Universal Food Chopper' on one side and Pat Oct 12, 1897, Apr 18, 1899, Re, Sept 5, 1899" on the other.
    The arm reads "Great Britain 2432697, D.R.P. No 104762 Brevete SG DG 1897 Belgium 139446" on the outside.
    The inside of the arm reads "Pat May 15, 1900 Canada Pat Oct 12, 1897
    This became a household necessity almost immediately. It conveniently attached to the edge of your counter and was cranked by hand. Other food choppers existed at the time but this was the first grinder to process meat and vegetables with ease. A new era dawned for home cooks with the introduction of products such as this.
