    New Guinea Artifact of Large Male Figure Standing Legs Slightly Bend Tribal Carving Sculpture –Lot F24
    Up for sale is this primitive and unique Asmat tribal artifact carving of large Male Figure standing with prominent face features, genitals and legs slightly apart and bend. Body is decorated with incised ornamentation. Hand carved from a single piece of wood with traces of lime and red ochre and charcoal.
    Provenance:
    Private collection. Collected in the early 1970s during an expedition through the rivers of the West Papua New Guinea Region and selected prior to New Guinean regulations limiting the export of art. This artifact has been kept in storage for over 40 years and it's been offered for sale for the first time since collected.
