Description
Hand Crafted Priest’s Oil Dish, “Sedre ni Waiwai”, from Fiji Carved from Native Hardwood (Vesi Wood).Circa: 1910 - 1950
16 inches (40.6 cm) long x 7 inches (17.8 cm) wide x 2 inches (5 cm) high
Condition: Very Good: There are small use chips in several areas of the fluted side and below the front end. There are not any repairs.
Description: The Sedre ni Waiwai was used by native Fijian priests to hold oil used in votive ceremonies. It is carved by an expert craftsman from one block of superb “Vesi” native hardwood.
