This is the original "secret sauce" heart of the Versa-Tenna KX fully assembled version; a unique binocular core and proprietary turns ratio that allows easy matching to end-fed wires by even the most rudimentary antenna tuners including simple home-brew single section L-C tuners. Like the Versa-Tenna KX complete antenna, the balun is hand-made with all-american components; stainless steel and brass hardware, ferrite core, and potting to waterproof it all.
Choose your own wire color and gauge for stealth and/or permanent installation, and meet your personal requirements for coax type and length... or use as originally intended for a small, lightweight portable antenna for backpacking, SOTA, or adventure radio.
The balun can use a very wide range of wire and coax lengths, and will easily tune 80 thru 6 Meters with popular tuners from LDG, Elecraft, and MFJ. Please limit power to 20 Watts SSB, or 10 Watts in digital modes... this is designed for QRP use.
Make no mistake... this is not a cheap imported toroid with an ordinary 9:1 turns ratio that characterize the mass market offerings you see elsewhere.
The balun comes with a tutorial about choosing various wire sizes and coax types and lengths so you can design the most efficient antenna for your personal needs.
I warranty this item for 90 days on a replacement basis only for defects in materials and workmanship... but not for exceeding the input power rating, Hi Hi.
