    Description

Hand Crafted Pictorial South Seas Tapa Hand-Bag from Tonga
    Circa: 1970 - 2005
    14 1/2 inches (36.8 cm) high x 9 1/2 inches (24.1 cm) wide
    Condition: Very Good: Mild wear.
Description: The freehand tapa is drawn with strong colors and a balanced form. The bag is elegantly crafted using all native Tongan materials; pounded mulberry bark, sennit twine, and grades of pandanus matting and fiber. The techniques probably derive from an ancient Island tradition.
