    Description

You are bidding on a large original antique print from an 1880s illustrated journal. The quality of the printing from that era was exceptional.
The print depicts the brutal punishment of women by muslim moors. A nude woman is tied to a mule and caned and pummeled with rocks as she is paraded in the streets. Three Western tourists watch.
    The print
is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 16 inches (28 x 40.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below.
The caption reads:  Moorish Manners And Customs -- a barbarous mode of punishing a woman.
The term Moors refers to the Muslim inhabitants of the Maghreb, North Africa, the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, and Malta during the Middle Ages, who initially were Berber and Arab peoples from North Africa.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
