  • Condition: Valves in great condition from a research laboratory, and if they were ever used, it is definitely not obvious. No evident damage or residue or pen markings. The valves are not in packaging, but are identical to ones that are, which is where we got the part number. Since we did not push out each replaceable septum to check if it has been pierced (to my knowledge we never stuck needles through the valves but one can sample headspace or contents this way), the item also includes two tubes containing one replacement septum per valve. Photographs depict the detailed condition of a representative item for sale (some show more than the number of valves in each item). The images have been cropped but not otherwise altered. Some images include a quarter or a glass vial neither of which is included in the item for sale.

    Description

    Leakproof Mininert fluoropolymer resin valves for vials are a convenient way to vent or access a sample in a screw-top vial. Simple pushbutton action: push green to open, push red to close. A superior alternative to septa when you wish to get to higher internal pressures (be careful!) or limit sample exposure to materials. When this valve is used with a glass vial, only the fluoropolymer resin and the glass come in contact with your sample. A Mininert septum installing tool, available elsewhere, allows quick replacement of an internal septum after it is pierced by a syringe needle (20 gauge).
    This size fits vials or other threaded items with a 24 mm neck, replacing a 400 cap (1-turn threads). Photos show a valve atop a vial with a 24-400 finish: a 28x70mm 6 dram (-24 mL) glass vial (for example, DWK 60957C-6). The vial is not included in the item for sale. Neither is a US quarter shown for size in a different photo, resting on the internal thread of the valve, where it is just a bit tilted in the 24 mm opening (quarters have a 24.26 mm diameter).
    This valve should also fit 28x95mm 10 dram (-40 mL) vials (for example, Fisher 13-622-359). This might be the same valve sold by Fisher (TS-10130) to fit 40 mL septum vials, although they confusingly specify 27 mm as the closure size.
