    Description:  This is a superb carving of a Bird-Man in a Loin Cloth holding a hard wood spear. The eyes of the fish and man appear to be mother-of-pearl with the pupils an asphaltum like paint. The eyes are affixed to the stone with the same substance. The item was found in a Santa Rosa, California estate with no collection history. Bird-Men occur in stories and legends from South Pacific Islands.
