Hand carved by Ngai Tahu artesans in the tadition of the Maori indigenous people of southern New Zealand.
Their ancestors were known for their ancient art of intricate wood carving
While some still carve the tradition pieces a few artists create beautiful contemporary pieces inspired by the swirls of traditional carvings. Such artists are Fayne Robinson and Riki Manuel.
This piece is made of a beautiful dark red hardwood - Stands 8" tall x 5.5" wide x 2" deep
