    Unique Cannibal Head Hunter Stone Axe Asmat People Papau (New Guinea)  Very Old
    This is a unique very Old Stone Axe from the Asmat People Head Hunter Tribe of new Guinea.  I bought this, and one other that I have also listed on ebay, about 35 years ago and just found them unpacking some boxes.  The tags are the ones that were on when I bought them.  The price is the price I paid back then.  The person I bought them said that they came from the Asmat people who practiced cannibalism, possibly until the 1940s or 1950s.
    An expert just informed me that the Asmat were not Cannibals, but Head Hunters:
    The Asmat practiced head hunting, not cannibalism. The Batak did. Ancient Batak curse "I pick the flesh of your kin from my teeth"
    I was also advised that this was a well defined Axe with patina.  The  Axe was probably used in the 1800s or early 1900s,
    The Axe may have been used as a war hammer against battles with other tribes and as a tool for other things such as cutting trees, cutting vines, and
    cutting & breaking open food items.
    I listed this at the actual price I paid 35 years ago.
