    Vintage JAPANESE Crumb Pan Hand Painted Carved Wood Folk Art
    Handmade in Japan, this little wooden crumb pan is a delight. I can't read the carved characters, but they are so graphic combined with grapes, leaves and flowers that make the surface visually interesting. Made in the 1950s or 60s, the artisan was very adept at fashioning the design as well as hand painting portions. There is no artist signature but it is stamped as 'Made in Japan' on the reverse side. It was purchased at a local country auction.
    The patina gained over the years  features a bit of surface wear, but it is still solid and there are no cracks or breaks. Presumably it originally had a brush or scraper to use as a set on the table, but that part is missing. The pan
    measures about 6-1/2" x 7" x1/2" and weighs about 4-1/2 ounces.
    This is a simply wonderful folk art crumb pan that is perfect for use (with a brush), display or as an addition to a collection.
