Vintage Maori Wood Waka War Canoe on Stand 6 Paddles Inlaid Shells Signed 26" L

Description

For sale is a hand carved wood model of a New Zealand Maori tribal canoe on stand with 6 paddles.
These Maori long canoes were known as Waka or `Sacred Vessel` which carried the spirits of warriors and chiefs and were also used for storing sacred objects.
This Waka is adorned with 18 pieces of abalone shell and the front and back pieces detach for shipping.
Measurements are 26 inches long X 10" H X  2 1/4" D and in excellent condition.
This model is signed to the base "hand carved in New Zealand Maori BCL".
