    DESCRIPTION
    Vintage hand carved Maori tribal wooden Waka huia box. Inlaid with Paua shells for the eyes this ethnographic Tiki face storage box was hand made by native Maori carvers in New Zealand in the 1930's/40's. Waka huia are sacred carved wooden storage boxes in which are kept very special and precious items and gifts. In ancient times they were often used to store the feathers of the Huia bird which were worn on only the most special of occasions. A great addition to any native wood carving or indigenous Oceanic art collection. These would make a great holiday or birthday gift idea.
    MEASUREMENTS
    Box measures 5" long by 4.5" wide by 2" tall and weighs 7oz.
